Does anybody know, how much the 37mm inner fork-pipes are reaching out
on top of the upper front-fork-holder????
(A pic would be great - because in the parts-diagram - it's in parts....)
I'm planning too, to change the handlebars - and there are quite a few
companies dealing with this stuff in Europe, but as we still don't have any
bikes over here - I want to prepare, so that I can start to change, the
day, they arrive.
(My NINJA650 has lower bars too - and for me it's great - because I'm
riding a lot on race-bicicles - and there the bars are really very low!!!)
Thanks for your help !!!! Mike |

| I have the same problem! I know clip ons from NSR 125 have 35mm, but we need 37mm... |

When you compare profiles between 250R and other similar sportsbikes, they really do poke out pretty high. Also this makes the riding position very commuter. Not bad if you like that sort of thing, but I usually end up leaning forward especially when having fun on it. I have to admit, looking at pictures of the ninja250R being ridden like a sportsbike (rider leaning forward, getting knee down) just looks plain strange - the arms just look cramped and bent up. Doesn't look natural, as opposed to a CBR250RR which just begs you to lay on the tank.
Bag me for being a poser if you like, I know its a pretty shallow point to criticise the bike on, but its the main thing thats stopping me buying it right away. I want a 250 sportsbike! The 250R CAN do it, just needs a few corrections to untame it: ) |

That'd be pretty difficult to do, since the EX250 isn't a sportbike. Never has been. It's a Standard with wanna-be fairings to draw in the money from the people who think a bike is what it looks like.

The usable power on the street is negligible without risking steep penalties, including your neck.
Most casual riders won't understand the differences in the suspension set up. I certainly don't need a sportbike, but a comfortable bike that looks like one is okay by me.
Brian has it right, the new 250r isn't a sportbike but could be with some changes.
The 650r is another example of this Kawi philosophy, sportbike looking standard. $5-6k vs. $9k for a zx6....wonder why ? Sure the motor is a lot of it, but the rest is all the goodies that make a sportbike. |

| I think my confusion is between a race bike and a sport bike. I am not trying to argue with anybody . It is purely a semantic discussion. but to me both the 250 r and the previous generation ex 250 are both sport bikes so is the 650 and a 1400 Kawasaki or Hyabusa all are sport bikes none are race bikes. A race bike would be a Honda 1000RR or a Kawasaki ZX10 r I would not call an Aprilia Torono a sport bike I would call it a Naked sport bike. or a streetfighter. As far as handlebars go If it is not comfortable for what you need the bike fore then change it. |
