Problem motorcycle 1, 2004 Kawasaki ninja 250:

bought a 2004 kawasaki 250 it was sitting for about a year before I bought it. Start it up engine runs ok, but everytime I put it in gear got on the throttle as the bike start pulling it keep stalling out. I replace the clutch no change. I will welcome any help with this.

Problem motorcycle 2, 2007 Kawasaki ninja 250:

A friend as a 2007 kawasaki ninja 250. just bought it on ebay, supose to be in good running condition but when it got hear(NJ) on that same day the clutch had to be replace, when the friction plates was remove we observed the big nut thatr hold the clutch basket in was loose and almost falling off, we thighten it then put the new friction/steel plates in. make a long story short the bike will only shift from neutral to first gear, it wont shift 2 through 6 gear.

Is there anyone one that can tell me why

can you elaborate a bit more on "as the bike start pulling it keep stalling out."
a) so it idles fine, and when you put it in 1st gear WITH the clutch in, it is still ok; but when you let go of the clutch and it dies?
b) replace the clutch? the lever, cable, or the whole tranmission?

Subject: well, what I am trying to get to is:

for Problem 1: it is not likely the clutch or anything tranmission related

for Problem 2: I don't have enough experience to make any judgment, but I haven't heard anyone with a bike that cannot shift in to gears that's due to tranmission failure. I was taught gear box in bikes are supposedly bulletproof.

a) Right it idles fine, and I put it in 1st gear WITH clutch lever press in, it is still idles ok, rev the throttle still ok; but when you release the clutch lever while turning the throttle it dies?

b) Yes clutch was replace, the lever was not(thats ok), cable was not replace neither was the whole tranmission.

Problem 1. guess I am on the right track, I cleaned the carbs last night, and dump the gas in the tank. Later today I am going to put fresh gas in the tank and I'll let you know how it goes.

Problem 2. Starting the motorcycle riding it while trying to shift it to 2sd gear was already tryed.

could it be the side stand / kick stand sensor thats broken?

But to me I thought it sounded like a putter out not a quick stall like the side stand switch causes.

 Subject: Problem #2

I don't know if this applies to the 250 but I just fixed this problem on my gixxer. The pin on the shifting "star" was chewed up and kept getting stuck in 4th. Got a part from Factory Pro for $130 and now it works beautifully. Everyone was saying it was the shifting rods and would cost $1000+.

Sounds like the gate that blocks it from shifting up past neutral when the bike is moving is stuck... Maybe something was bumped when you had the transmission apart?

These Ninjas have something that doesn't allow 'em to shift into second when the bike is stopped, so perhaps that thing is broken.

Problem #2: The clutch basket was not seated properly, once I fix this new found issue problem was solved.

Wise word of advice, be carefull when buying motorcycle online(ebay) someone went inside the motor.

Later today I am going to work on problem#1.
