Friday morning update.

I spoke with Duke this morning just before sunrise. He found a motel after leaving Yellowstone Park and got about 4 hours of sleep. He felt bad about having to cut short the phone call with Joe. He also mentioned that Rob Klocke called and talked to him.

The bike is running very good now that it's back at higher altitudes. He mentioned that he wants to add another washer under the needles and adjust the idle mixture screws. The screws were at about 3 1/2 turns out, but after making a couple of adjustments on the road, he's not sure where they are now. In any case, once the needles are raised, the mixture screws will need to be adjusted anyway. It sounds like loudboys will have something to do this evening.

The next leg of the rally is about 2 1/2 days (2 days, 3 overnights) from Maine to Denver. Street Atlas 2005 shows it as 2064 miles by the quickest route. This leg won't allow time to go very far off-route. Those of you who volunteered to help and are along the route from Denver to Maine can probably figure out a 6 hour or so window of opportunity. If he needs help on this leg, he'll need it quickly. Of course, that same window gives you the ability to give him a call when he's passing through your area.
