Just like Matt said, on the bigger track it'll give them room to space out a little bit more. It does also give late comers a chance to try and squeeze in a pass at the last moment...

Things like this will happen in every group you're in, at every track you ride, with every provider you ride with. You might find a sweet spot when your riding ability just happens to match THAT DAY'S group at THAT track with THAT provider and have an easy time with it. The best ways to minimize this are: 1) Get better at passing 2)Go to the track on "off" days. 3) Go to the track on <3 group days (generally fewer riders allowed per day)

Just get out on a track. And do it as often as you can!
