Those are much hated by lots of serious track riders...        

because they're put on by Noob/non serious riders to try and cover up for poor bike setup/riding. The biggest issue though, is that WHEN those riders go down, they now have weapons pointing up and down/spinning on their bike. Having played cornerworked for several years, I've seen a few people sliced open throug their leathers with these things. One was to the bone just above the knee and got tendons too.

There are some tech inspectors who won't pass those style pegs for use too. Best to avoid them.
