Great ride in the Santa Monica Mountains

Today 9 Southern California Ninja 250 folk, plus friends, got together for an extended tour of the twisty roads in the Santa Monica Mountains. We met at the Rock Store on Mulholland Highway, where maybe 200 motorcycles are parked at any given time on Sunday. We did some riding and had lunch at Neptune's Net on the Pacific coast, where it SEEMED like 200 bikes were trying to get into the parking lot. We rode "The Snake", where spectators and photographers wait for someone to excel or someone to crash, and we rode some great, lightly-traveled twisties in Latigo Canyon, Yerba Buena Road, and Highway 23.

The weather was actually kind of hot in the inland portions of the mountains, but just about perfect near the coast. Bright sun and incredible visibility. From our vantage point in Latigo Canyon we could see Santa Catalina Island, Santa Cruz Island, the seldom-seen Santa Barbara Island, and San Clemente Island (at least 60 miles away.)

Plus we get Golden Rule Rally points, yes? Pictures shown here:
Photos by mattwwod1221, funkshn, and (the better ones) by chillin. dailyrider and ddennis69 are also in the photos. So 5 points each! (teknocruncher met us later for lunch but we don't have photos from there.) Plus some other amiable companions: Lauren, Paul, John, and Allison.

Many thanks to the people who rode so far to go on this ride - dailyrider from beyond San Diego, Paul from Tehachapi, ddennis69 from Santa Maria. And thanks to the more local folks who made this ride so fun.
