Lowside Crash

I had a low speed lowside this morning turning a corner right near my apartment. A long streak of damp gasoline/oil (and of course I happened to turn right onto it). Front wheel slipped right out from under me, bike slid about 8 feet. Concrete surface, feel like that is worse than asphalt.

Not a scratch on me, but my boots are a bit scraped. Tore through the fabric of the left jacket elbow to the armor. Need clutch lever and front left turn signal replaced.

How can I prevent this from happening in the future? I was going pretty slow. What if I was on a curve going 40 MPH instead of 15?

Just looking for some consolation that this was my own ignorance/stupidity and not just pure bad luck. xD
