I doubt that tire pressure is an issue, though if it is then being on the high side might make the tires very slightly more likely to slide since a high pressure will give you a slightly smaller contact area. 37psi isn't really that high though, and if you're sliding on grease/oil, nothing will help much.

The high speed idle/need for choke is something you do need to fix or get fixed. There's a ton of stuff here in the FAQ on carb cleaning and adjustment.
