Engine Swap! EX-250-J(08+) Engine in a EX-250-F(88-07)

Hello fellow riders,
My 05 250 required a new engine, and I chose to go with the new model ninja engine, as they are cheaper and have less miles (on ebay that is).
Other than a few minor mounting and hose issues, it shouldn't be a problem.

Aside from one. The question is:
On the new engines there is a Cylinder Head Cover Cap. (Ref#11065 on this page: http://www.kawasakipartshouse.com/oemparts/a/kaw/500b64c4f8700223e47975ae/cylinder-head-cover)
There is not one on the older engines.
What is the purpose of this cap? Do any hoses attach to it or is open ended?

Any input is appreciated.

Ride safe and have fun.
