|Fatal Crash video released |
Don't know if this has been posted here before, but a video has recently been released - by the Police - of a fatal crash, caught on helmet cam, which occurred earlier last year in the UK. The rider's family approved the release in the hope it might raise awareness.
The rider was travelling at 97 mph when a car, apparently not seeing him or misjudging his speed, turned across his path.
The above video does not have the actual impact recorded.
The actual impact is shown in the video clip below. Warning - this is a fatal accident.
At the speed he was travelling, swerving would have been very difficult. He did steer the bike, but unfortunately in the same direction the car was turning. The car driver was prosecuted, lost his driving licence for 18 months, was given community service, but served no time in jail.
Just something to keep in mind next time you're out riding. Always assume you are invisible and that every car driver is out to kill you. Better safe than sorry - or dead. And riding at close to 100mph on a two way non divided highway with traffic is not a smart thing to do.
