Can be repaired

It is a common problem that owners will do without realizing it. I've bought 2 bikes that have had the tank pierced by the long screws.
Something to check when looking at purchasing a used 250.
Your tank can be repaired.

Fill the hole with the JB Weld that is for gas tanks, let it dry thoroughly and re-tap the screw hole.

Get some of the shorter screws so this doesn't happen again and there will be no need to worry about mixing up the screws.
