Just your body weight?

The spring rate on a rear monoshock is around 400#/inch, and it is preloaded, so I don't think body weight would compress it at all. The way the swingarm and linkage acts on the bike puts a lot of leverage on that kind of shock. Now, the dual shocks that mount near the axle on some cruisers and old bikes have much weaker springs and can be compressed by hand.
