I haven't sat on my bike in, ahem, a while. But if memory serves me correctly, the shock does compress when you sit on it... In fact, I think it has to in order for you to have good handling. Ah, yes, it's all coming back to me now.

If the shock is not compressing when mounted on the bike and you are sitting on it, there is a problem. It might not be the shock, though. It could be the needle bearings inside the swingarm, or the bushings in the Unitrak linkage.

Have you ever serviced your swingarm? These freeze up if left with the factory lube. Pull the main axle out (under the round shiny caps) and get ready for a surprise.
