Me too!
I had been averaging like 33 mpg for months! I know I've been needing a proper carb clean, but man. I'd at least hope to hit 40s or 50s.

Re: Run through another tank first
I'm thinking it's running on one cylinder if possible. It no longer really starts. Every once in a while it starts but then will shut off when I stop and get in idle. Actually left me stranded on the way to work the other day.
I've got my spark plugs, am heading outside to change them now. Hopefully that's the problem both efficiency wise and running wise.

Run through another tank first
Run through another whole tank and see what it takes to fill it then. May have been too small of a data sample.

bad fuel economy
well i checked my fuel economy for the first time this year. i cleaned out my carbs for the first time ever about a month ago, and emptied the tank dry in the process. afterwards i filled up a 2.5 gallon tank and put it into the bike. well i just filled up my tank to the top today after i was almost empty, 4.6 gallons i put in. which means i used about 2.2 gallons, and i logged in only 70 miles. that's under 35 mpg. so what's the deal here? sure, i did a bit of high revving and stuff after doing the carb clean to make sure it was running ok. but besides that, i run the bike light. shift at 6k or under, and i weigh 145 lbs. what is the most obvious thing that could be wrong when a bike is not running efficiently?
