A coping saw and files/sandpaper will get you about anywhere you want to go. <br /> <br />A easy way to dress up the sides of the tank and add "wings" like Brian suggested is to just cut out part of your stock fairings. I've seen it done and wished I'd thought of it first. <br /> <br />For clipons/tank clearance, just weld a couple bolts onto the neck of the bike to be new steering stops, that'll keep your bars from hitting the tank. Great looking reservoir. That pan worked surprisingly well. There's so much space under the seat and tail. Are you going to chop the end of the tail when you move that part of the frame? I like the look of an exposed rear tire. I'm trying to find a cheap 250 so I can do this to it. I don't want to take apart my 07. With the cowl, I tried to keep about the same angle of the top of the gas tank, but it bowed up a bit after it was screwed into the seat pan. I think part of the problem is that it flares out towards the end, rather than coming more to a point. My battery randomly died this week, so I just bought a new X5L-BS, same as stock but 1" shorter. It only poked through the seat pan about an inch, so maybe I'll play around with the height and angle of it. <br /> <br />For the tank I have a few ideas. One is puting in some cutouts for clipons, and seeing how the lower section pans out. The other is roughing the tank into a smaller size and making a whole fiberglass cover to give it a new shape. I'm talking about the space between the tire and the bottom triple. Some sort of fender, though minimal, would break up that starkness. And yeah, not a fan of the tail cowl. Looks like it is only the size it is for the battery (is that right?) I understand it was quick and out of a trash can, but maybe look into a physically smaller battery, a super capacitor, etc... depending on your starting needs. It'd sure cut Weight as well as bulk. <br /> <br />But yeah, I like it and where you're headed. Any plans to fill in the tank recess or create abs/fiberglass "wings" that screw in place? For the cowl, I'm going to be making something a bit nicer once I get some time and fiberglass. The straight headers are temporary as well, I'm hoping to find a tubing bender and fab up and under-tail system with all that extra room. Also, will be getting some Clip-ons and rear sets from Woodcraft. <br /> <br />So far almost everything has been Zero-dollar, mostly stuff I had in the garage.
