Leon is 12th place!

3rd in the Blue group behind Brent Ames and Todd Witte. Paul Talor is the winner.

The IBR world has been redefined by a rider who smoked most of the field on a bike predisposed to not even finish. Leon felt he could possibly have been in the top 10 if his cell phone wouldn't have croaked. His friend Scott Davis was 13th (different route) on a BMW. Gold medals went up to 14th or 15th place.

He was talking to Bob Higdon as he was on the phone with me. It sounded like there was a hoard of people around him wanting to talk. Several comments were flying around about what he could have done on a stronger bike. I think they're all hoping he'll stick with the 250! The motor's still doing great. He actually started it up and let me hear it run over the phone. I told him Mike wanted it back, we'll see...

By the way, he was wearing his Ninja250.net shirt.

Way to go, Sir...!

A lot of so called "stronger bikes" finshed many thousands of miles behind The 250. I'd say Leons ride was plenty strong. :)

Absolutely amazing!

I'll bet this is slowly starting to sink in about now. Good for him.

Does he already have a date for the banquet? ;)

p.s... Nice work on the pic 'o the day, but is it 'sposed to link to "laurabelle", or is Animal too gauche? Wink

The Hopeless Class will need to be renamed, since Leon's 250 Ninja finished 12th. Just to prove you should never say never, and that nothing is truly impossible, two of the top ten finishers were blue pill riders. So there you go, the Iron Butt Rally finishers have challenged even The Matrix and come out the other side.

Way to go Leon, on your TOUR DE FORCE! When I read about your single day rides, one of which was over 1500 miles, I THOUGHT you were nuts. Now that you have completed the Iron Butt, I KNOW you are nuts! Congratulations on a fantastic ride and for fulfilling a dream that you no doubt have had for some time. I can only imagine the hardships, physical and mental that you had to go through for the past week and a half and you conquered them all. Helmet's off to you, Leon.

How tempting will it be for the guy who has probably logged more miles aboard a 250 Ninja than anyone, to forsake it, buy a bigger bike and go for the victory in 2005? Can the EX500 run fast enough to knock off all the big bikes? Wink

That is just amazing. My hat's off to you Leon. Anyway, I think it is a wonderful victory, and something that shows the world that the Ninja 250 really is the "little bike that could".

Makes me wish I didn't have to sell my little guy. Wry *sheds a tear* But I do like my 600 Mr. Green

I've been reading Bob Higdon's summary of the progress and routing for you! Was out of town, so just got the info that you did so well. Good to see a buddy do it right.

Or maybe an additional logo? Racing only kind of logo doesn't reflect the soul of Ninja250 anymore Wink
