Subject: SS1000 ride this saturday (3/19/05)

Well I've decided to go for the SS1000 ride (1000 miles in 24 hrs) this Saturday. I'm leaving Nashville at 4:00am. I'll travel through Knoxville, Asheville, Charlotte, stop in Columbia around 2:00PM ET for a bite to eat, hopefully with Payne, then on through Augusta, Atlanta, Birmingham (I'm hoping around 8:30pm CT) possibly to meet with Stray and finish in Nashville. Anyone want to meet up for a quick pic for GRR points, email me and I'll give you an estimated time of arrival at where you are and of course anyone is welcome to stop by to eat with us in Columbia.

Payne, any good ideas of where we can eat? Let me know what you think.

Stray, I'll be able to stop for a quick visit in Birmingham if you want to meet.

BTW- I will be on my 600 this trip due to my 250's front tire not holding air. I've had it off twice, and now I'm looking at a third time. Anyway, anyone wanting to meet me for GRR points, bring your 250 I'll have a camera.

so be prepared.
Give me a call if you run into issues in the Georgia area. I'll be within an hour and a half until you get on 75 North past 285. Also call me before you head out from Columbia. I might be able to time it so I can ride a bit with you.

The phone #'s are in the email.

btw, I like to eat a little at every stop. You'll use more energy than you think and it will help you stay focused. Focus on the various sections of the ride instead of just how far from home you are. That will help. Smile Take aspirin/ibuprofen/whatever you like at each stop and that will help keep you from getting sore etc. Especially if you are an out of shape old fart like me. Wear earplugs. Get a water bladder if you can.

Have fun!

Best of luck to you! I hope to try some of the IBA rides someday.

Stay alert, eat light and be careful.

Be sure to post your results!
