 Subject: Track tires

I'm sure this has been covered before, but just checking to see if there are any new tires available for the 16" rims, and what is the best tire for the track. I used the Pirelli's last year, and they seem ok, but I may have run them thru too many cycles. I low sided for no apparent reason the last time I had it out. The rear broke loose, but could have been the rider. I'm replacing them before I go back out this year.

New performance tires for 16" rims are going to be few and far between. However GT501s, MT75s and Sport Demons are all still available in 16" rim sizes

as most bikes now use 17". And by Pirellis do you mean MT75 or Sport Demon? Search IanJ author and 'tires' for some of his posts about track tires.

I used the Sport Demons. Is there a more popular tire, or are they about the same.
I've thought about getting 17", but I really don't want to spend that kind of money on this bike. If the newer model Ninja has 17" wheels, I would prefer to spend the money on a newer bike.

The GT501 will last longer, but the front available is kinda tall. The MT75 has a reputation for having as good grip as the SD. They're cheaper and won't last as long. I don't know if anyone has run the GT501/Lasertec combo on the track.

They're supposed to be quite good for the track, though.
