 Subject: SoCal Ride this weekend

  • Where: Palmdale to Tehachapi
  • When: Sunday, March 6th
  • Experience Level: Any and all

I know this is short notice, but I am going on a ride with my co-worker from Palmdale up to Tehachapi for lunch on Sunday, and from there maybe some more riding somewhere. I'll be leaving my house around 0930, so let me know if you want to come and I'll get you my address, or if you want to meet us in Tehachapi, that would work too.

Regardless of this weekend's ride, is there any interest in setting up an email list for California rides? Back in Texas, JonP collected email addresses and sent out an email for all the ninja people that don't regularly check the forums. I would be happy to set it up if there is interest, just let me know!

What time do you figure to be back in Palmdale? Going north from Palmdale is off my usual beaten track. In general, you'll pick up more people with a swing through the canyons toward Santa Clarita, or toward Ojai or Malibu.

See if you can get onto the Bodfish-Caliente Road. That's very cool, and ends up near Lake Isabella. There are a couple of alternate ways back home from there. Or, what the heck, turn around and ride it the other way. It's worth it.

I think my co-worker will be heading back to Palmdale after lunch, so I was just going to ride for a bit after lunch and head back. The road you suggested looks like a good ride, so I'll probably do that - about 70 miles or so up to Bodfish. So an estimate of when we get back to Palmdale would be 5 or 6.

The road to Bodfish is great, but slow because of all those great curves. We'll see if there's time. I'm an hour south of Palmdale, so don't want to get back too late on Sunday. But we can also ride over to the Grapevine, then east on 138 onto county road N2. That's practically a local road for you - been on it yet? Lightly traveled mountain road, pretty fun.

I sent you an email at your Yahoo address.

Oddly enough, this morning I got an invite from a Meetup group named "So. Cal. Ninja 250s" and I thought to myself, wow, that Matt moves fast! But it's an unrelated group based in Riverside / Orange County area.

We can certainly decide after lunch where we would like to go. I haven't been on much yet, either the weather has been bad or I've been busy. I did do a ~100 mile loop the other day - http://goo.gl/maps/PuFE Pretty nice, though it took me about 75 miles to get used to the ninja after being on a v-strom for 3,000 miles!

I sent you an email back with my cell and address.

How about that Little Tujunga Canyon / Sand Canyon? Hell of a ride. I won't show you anything more technical than that this time - probably less technical - but we can still go past some interesting places. Including Willow Springs racetrack, if we take the direct route to Tehachapi up 90th St West.
