 Subject: Deals Gap Camping Trip

  • Where: Deals Gap NC/TN
  • When: To be determined
  • Experience Level: Licensed, >6 months riding experience

I'm considering a long-distance motorcycle tour, camping out most nights. As a test run, I'm planning a trip to The Tail. The purpose is to try out "living on a motorcycle" for a few days. My idea is to ride the machine out to the mountains in one or two days, spending a day or two there in the mountains playing on The Tail and enjoying whatever else is in the area, and ride home. Will probably take place during a week to avoid weekend traffic on The Tail. I plan on being in the mountains about two days, not counting transit time to and from, 4 days total.

I'm traveling from Central NC. Would be fine meeting up with folks along the way and riding up together or meeting in the mountains.

I haven't set a date yet. I've got to outfit myself and the machine for the trip. No later than Halloween.

Experience level: It's a multi-day motorcycle excursion to Deals Gap. This probably shouldn't be your first long-distance ride. Part of the excursion is to test out a camping system, so I won't be sharing a room.

Any takers?

Subject: Gap Trip.....is going to Alabama.....

Well we have been going down Deal's Gap in late October for years now on our way down to Road Atlanta to see The WERA Grand National Finals Motorcycle Roadraces, However WERA has moved there races to Barber Motorsports Park in Biringham, Alabama.
So that means no gap trip, we instead will be heading to Alabama this October via Lynchburg, Tennessee to hang out at the Jack Daniels BBQ Invitationals Competition Festival then down Biringham for the races.
Anyone is welcome to come along on this trip, let me know if you want to go so we can make sure we have enought lodging for you?

 Subject: Barber

Daryl I've made every Barber Vintage Festival and expect to make it this year. I am working on my 76 R75 BMW. Bigger platform to work with than 250. Last year I spent three days at Barber then 10 days following Barber at Daytona. Little Ninja won't be able to pack enough for 10 days on the road so prolly BMW time. I've camped and stayed at the Marriott at the track. Where are you staying?

I'll be Kayak camping and fishing Sat and most of Sunday. I'll check back with you Sunday night. Wardie
