Re: How much for a 500 mi service?

Great bunch of responses.Been riding bikes since early seventies and have always done my own maint.M/Cing is one of those sports/hobbies/? that pretty much forces you to learn how to:#1 ride correctly(through instruction, lessons, books ect.)or get banged up severely.#2 wrench, cause of the expense, fence time(time your bike sits inside a dealers fence)but more importantly the responsibilty of taking care of your own s..t.#3 behave,as in careful with the squidlyness, your DMV and insurer will thankyou.
You need to really become a little bit of a tool "junkie".Start with a really topnotch screwdriver set,socket/ratchet,torque wrench, combo wrenches.Your first box should be sized for trackdays.IOWs not one of those little 4 drawer think, top chest. Then start with elect. section.get a nice digital voltmeter and a whole selection of elect. connectors, some crimping pliers. Then get some specialty tools like the 250's valve tool, nice tyre gage, set of Torx bits for your ratchet. Then snag a air compressor, get a Sears 30 G. tank atleast. It takes alot of volumne to run your airtools.next grab a air ratchet and impact gun/impact sockets.Next get a medium sized tap and die set metric, add standards as seen fit.
Get a manual,and get busy.Good Luck,Brian
