Get the most amout of insurance you can comfortable afford. Make sure you have under/uninsured coverage. If you are involved in an accident, this amount can also apply against your liability limit to increase it in some states (such as Virginia). I recommend comp and collision. I pay $126/yr for my 250R and will pay around $320/yr for my FZR600 for the same coverage levels.
