Break in period

Kawasaki recommends 4000RPM max for first 500 miles followed by a service, then, 6000RPM for the next 500 miles. I am adhering to those guidlines as closely as practicable. However a couple of web sites http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm claim Kawasaki's guidelines are not the best way to break in a motorcycle. They advocate a more extreme, push to red line, type procedure. They submit anecdotal evidence to support their claims. As stated, I stuck to factory recommended guidlines but was curious to know if anyone has done a scientific comparison of break in procedures?
