Preparations for the 500 mile service

Did my first oil change yesterday, then had my first "just for fun" ride, and when I got
back realized the odometer was up to 125 miles. I figure that gives me at most 3 weeks
until the 500 mile service. I would like to be prepared for that when it comes up, so I'm
trying to put together a checklist for what exactly I need for that. (This and a similar
list for 3000 mile checks might make a good FAQ addition too.)

I already have a good general toolkit: wrenches, torque wrenches, Allen wrenches,
screwdrivers, etc., so I won't worry about any of those. I'm mostly trying to concentrate
on special purpose tools and consumables.

The following is the owners manual list of 500 mile service items and what I think is
needed:
Carb synch - carb synch tool (I'll be using the 2 bottle rig)
Idle speed - none
Throttle grip play - none
Valve clearance - feeler gauges, valve adjustment tool (not absolutely necessary, but a good
idea)
Air filter, clean - cleaner (FAQ says dish detergent is OK), oil (I'll probably just use
motor oil)
Evaporative emission control system - none? (I don't have a CA bike so I'm not worrying
about it)
Brake light switch - none
Brake fluid check - DOT4 brake fluid
Clutch adjust - none
Steering check - none
Fastener tightness - none
Oil change - oil, filter (comes with 2 filter gaskets), drain plug gasket (I assume that's
the aluminum washer thingy on the drain plug)
Radiator hose connections - coolant (probably not, but just for completeness)

I also assume the service manuals would be handy for a lot of that.

So, before I get to my 500 mile service, did I miss anything?

One thing I'm already worried about tracking down is the oil drain plug gasket. I didn't
have one when I did the oil change yesterday and it looked OK, so I just reused it, but I
don't think that will work as a long term solution. I haven't (with admittedly minimal
looking) been able to find where to get more of those though. So, suggestions are welcome.
