Re: 1st Track day on Monday at Buttonwillow, CA

Hey, have fun at the track!!! I'm jealous as my track days are done for the year. Buttonwillow can handle 30 riders on the track easily. The AFM holds races there with 60 bikes on the grid. 30 bikes makes for light traffic. I don't know who is running the show Monday but tell them it is your first time there and ask if someone can tow you around and show you the lines in the morning. Most outfits will have someone there to help you. Hook up with them again in the afternoon to follow you around and give pointers on areas you should work on. There are guys I towed around Buttonwillow earlier this year on 250s who are now giving me a run for my money.

Don't worry about riding slow. Slow is actually much better than riding faster than your comfort level in an effort to keep up with the pace. Buttonwillow has a long front straight where anyone you're holding up can pass you. Don't worry about it. I tell everyone "Don't even thing about going fast until after lunch!" You got nothing to prove, just learn the track and get your brain warmed up to riding fast.

Enjoy the day, the weather should be great. Wish I were going to be there.
