However, I was new too and broke mine in mostly by the motoman method.
I don't know how city locked you are but fast take-offs to the speed limit even will be better than going by the factory method.
My point was the factory break in method is to be ignored....no one is actually sure why Kawasaki recommends that but we are more sure that it is not the best way to break in your engine.
Your rings need to be loaded to hone to the cylinder walls, this is done with hard acceleration and engine deceleration. Get out of town a little bit, find a deserted road.
If you can't do any of this, just ride it however you need to in traffic and it will still be better than the factory recommendation.
