Re: Jason Pridmore's STAR motorcycle school

Turns out that the fuel filter was not the problem. Or at least not the main problem. I had the bike idling fine at around 6pm after draining the float bowls and installing a new fuel filter. I couldn't take it on the track, but did drive around the pit area and everything seemed fine. This morning I made it through the first session which was a low speed follow the leader session again. Then immediately after one lap on my second session my symptoms returned. Bike began to loose momentum on the second straight going into turn two. I was forced to downshift through all the gears and veer off into the grass off the track and the bike proceeded to die. I hitched a ride with the crash truck back to the pit area and decided to remove the in line fuel filter and try a quick fix of putting in a straight line. This didn't work. After this I decided to pack up and head home and try troubleshooting the problem from home. This evening I will begin the task of inspecting carbs, spark, fuel flow etc. If anyone has had similar problems and solved them with something specific please post it. It would save me alot of troubleshooting and inspection. Im wondering why it ran fine the first session of today, then when I began to keep the bike above 7k rpms the problem began again.
