| Sounds like my trackday last October |
Except that I crashed at about 3:30pm after I passed a guy and I was pushing too hard to stay ahead
And I thought I had that self-control thing nailed down
I would say, you had a great experience of rain riding. The fact that you crashed just tells you that you still have to learn more self control and learn where your limits are. Crashing sucks, of course, but at least it was on a track and not on the streets. Overall, look at all of this as a positive experience.
And your comment about choosing lesser gear so you wouldn't ruin the new one... WTH was that? If you are trying to save the gear, why do you ride at all?
I hope you learned the lesson though
