If you want to be loud, I'd recommend a Fiamm horn.

Chaps are next to useless: they have only the leather to protect the knees, and offer no protection for your arse or crotch. Never mind a crash; if you get caught riding in rain without rain gear, your crotch and rear end will get soaked through and it'll look like you pissed yourself.
