$40 won't do it. You need quality microphones with wind/noise canceling processor. You'll get what you pay for.

and every wire/connector will break soon enough if used often. Check an Autocom systems and see what a motorcycle specific intercom system looks like. That system cost good money but it actually works at any speed -- you can hear and be heard and wires/connectors don't break easily.
That said, good luck building it and experimenting with stuff. It will be a good experiment if nothing else.
