I had to learn the hard way....

Like always (or so it seems) ~ I spent about $1500 all said and done over the years. $1000 in Multiples of different home made attempts that were all flawed in some which way, shape or form. I tended to live with the options for awhile, but got fed up after a few months and tried to "fix" whatever the problem was. That was 1996~2001 or so. In 2001 I bought a top of the line Autocom system for $500 and found that I had no complaints. It did everything I wanted and needed it to do, and did it all BETTER than anything I had been able to hack together. I would have saved about a grand if I would have just bought the Autocom unit in the first place.... and I'm willing to bet that you'll find the same thing. Well, unless you just decide to live with whatever flaws pop up in your system.

History... those who don't bother to recognize it are doomed to repeat it. In other words, if you can learn from the mistakes of others, you won't have to make those same mistakes. I know you're a hard headed, cocky, know-it-all kid... we Really aren't out to trip you up, or make your life harder at all... quite the opposite. You won't see it for several years yet, but you would do MUCH worse than to consider the options we toss out there.

Brian
