2008 Ninjaq 250 fuel economy

There was an interesting articel in Rider magazine on the new 250. This month there is a letter t the editor mentioning that he has found that the fuel economy of the new Ninja is down in the barely 50mpg range instead of the almost 70mpg that the previous generation Ninja's get. Does anyone have enough time on their 08 Ninja yet to be able to answer this question? Is the milage really down that far? My 01 and 06 Ninja 250's get 65+mpg even with the corrected front tire size.
