Real World City MPG

I read all of these posts raving about 70 and 75mpg from our 250s... but since I am on Long Island, where you go 30 and then stop... 40 and then stop.. 20 and then stop.. I doubt I will see those kinds of numbers. I am only on my second tank.. the first time I used a buddy's 5 gallong container (that wasn't full but not sure exactly). I put some gas in from that (but not sure how much, however when I gave it back to him it still had a decent amount of gas in it). I got 80 miles out of that.. then again I did a good deal of idling and revving as I was tuning it up and working on it before I registered the bike for whatever its worth.

So I ran out of gas.. hit the reserve and drove to the gas station.. it took a bit over 3 gallons to fill it up (odd, right?). So far I have about 110 miles on it since that refuel.. all stop and go 'city type' driving.. I looked in the tank and I can see the level is way below the 'hump' in the middle.. I am guessing that I will be putting gas in it within the next few trips out.

So what I am wondering... what kind of gas mileage are you ppl who drive all stop and go and no highway getting? I think that 40-50 might not be out of the question and I think I'd be more than happy with that.

Thanks.
Adam
