Re: 94.1 MPG on my 2003 Ninja 250!!!

Impressive numbers, but I'm not sure about the safety of "Engine Off Coasting" - and presumably the "bump start" and messingwith the key needed to restart the engine. Neither is likely to add to the vehicle stability or the ability to get out of potentially hazardous situations by swerving or accelerating.

While it can certainly increase your mileage, I'm not sure the effects on safety are quite so positive.

I know the GS Parkway and I'm not sure I'd want to be coasting anywhere along there myself...

BTW many (most?) states have statutes making coasting down hills (with the engine on or off) illegal (though I'll admit I've never heard of anyone being pulled over for doing it!). Again I think the reason is related to safety. For example in Virginia:

? 46.2-811. Coasting prohibited.

The driver of any motor vehicle traveling on a downgrade on any highway shall not coast with the gears of the vehicle in neutral.
