First track day without the Fast Kitty

Well we tried to get my 250 and my "new" gsxr 600 and the zx7 on the trailer but the Little Kitty had to stay home. Since I've been track riding this past year and a 1/2 on the 250, getting on a whole different bike was scary. I am a bit of a weenie. It is the second bike I have ever ridden and only got about 6 miles on it on the street before we loaded up for the central valley. My friends were happy to see me trying something new but with lots of cautious encouragement.

The first two sessions had me wondering why I left my 250 at home. I have figured out the best lines for the 250 on the track and now I was on a bike with more than 3 times the hp and serious torque. I kind of missed being able to pin the throttle. I'm pretty analytical about riding, probably to my detriment. At a certain point I realized I was working way too hard and lost all my reference points. Fortunately several of the control riders helped me out and I got my focus back.

The last sessions are always the best. The trackclub added an extra session Sunday so we rode until 6pm. Its great to be out there with 8 bikes instead of 30+. I got pretty fast (for me) by the end of the day, got her into 6th, had some confidence to pass a few people and was thrilled to have learned a lot about my new bike. I'm still riding the Fast Kitty and loving her. Riding the new bike (Big Cat) is bound to make me better on the 250. So watch out.

It was great to see Andy who stopped by, said hi and even took a couple of pics. Thanks.
