Very touching experience

I didn't know until the night before that I would be able to make the ride.

I flew in from St. Louis late Friday and had gotten a text from M that I should meet the group in Ardmore, OK for the KawiDavis Memorial ride. Looking up the meet point, I realized it was only a mere 90 miles from me. I've missed the last two years of the ride and decided that I wasn't about to miss this year's.

Sat morning I geared up and headed to Ardmore. It was a gorgeous ride up, weather was perfect. The day was a very special day for many reasons, and one of those reasons is that it happened to be my birthday as well. I rode to the meet thinking about life and how the ride is a memorial for the life of a fallen rider and the celebration of the living life of another. Seems everything comes full circle.

It was good too see old friends again. I haven't ridden with Matt since...gosh I don't know, maybe Costa Rica Jan last year? It was also a pleasure to meet his sweet girlfriend and we happily chatted away in Mandarin. I finally met Mike (geekonabike) and agreed that the board members are some seriously awesome peeps.

It was also an honor to meet Joani and the rest of the family. There was a photo of Allen on the picnic table and she and I chatted about him and she shared some fond memories with me.

Joani, thank you for hosting this and I am very glad that I could be a part of the celebration this year.

~Sarah
