I'm just amazed with the gas mileage I get

Just got my '07 last winter. I put 2000 miles on it so far. Over the last three tanks of gas, or 890 miles, I have averaged 80 miles per gallon. I find that amazing. At first I thought it was a fluke, but three tanks in a row must mean something. I fill up around 300 miles on the odo and I still haven't hit reserve. I almost began to think the odometer is really optimistic, but it seems to be reasonably close to what I would expect for distance traveled.

It was getting 75ish before, but since going from 15/45 to 15/41 gearing it got even better.

Now I know it's so much about riding style and YMMV, and I do treat the bike very gently. It's quite satisfying, but it's gently none-the-less. I also do very, very little high speed or interstate riding. In the summer the bike starts with no choke. I let it idle 20 seconds and drive off. No flats spots in the carburetion, and always returns to a perfect idle. Amazing.

The Classic is proving to me to be an extremely practical all around bike, as many of you already know.
