Check airfare and total travel time. Bakersfield (BFL) is the closest. LAX and Burbank are not too bad but traffic is pretty heavy at times. You could rent a car to get to Maricopa or Funkshn may be able to help with some logistics if you fly in to the LA area. He is in La Canada.
