Motorcycling is dangerous enough without adding to it intentionally...

Tires get hard and stop performing due to age and exposure to air/oxygen, 4 years is the limit of what I will personally ride thanks to a year of spending idle hours at the racetrack talking with tire vendors about all things tire related. In other words, hey fail to stick to the road in times of need ~ like that car that just turned left 3 lengths ahead of you and you NEED to be on the brakes. Or that kid/dog that just popped out from between 2 parked cars and your choices are to swerve around or hit them. The stock dunRocks could barely do either of those things when they were NEW and keep the bike upright, add age and they are more like riding on wet pavement with patches of ice forming (at least in my personal experience).

You can buy economical tires that BOTH last longer than the dunRocks AND provide more grip (and are cheaper to buy, LOTS cheaper to buy actually). It's not hard to do though, the stock tires were an engineering marvel in how bad they were.

I don't care what other people do with their tires/bikes/lives, but I'm not going to allow a suggestion that it's Safe to do those things go unanswered on a public forum where new riders often turn for answers. Just because something CAN be done, doesn't mean it Should be done (or is in any way safe/responsible).

Brian
