Give me a free engine and I'll give it a go        

The frame geometry is basically the same as it's been since '88, though I don't have any information on how the engine mounts have changed, if at all. Kawasaki is claiming that the sidebars are now a "higher strength steel" but that smells like marketing. Expect the exhaust to not fit properly with the old generation fairing, but that has been true for years.

I'm looking forward to pulling a low-mileage engine (and intake, ECU, and exhaust) from a moderately crashed example in a couple years and giving a swap a try. It'll be a while before engines become available cheap enough to experiment with, though; I mean, the bike is brand new.
