Yes, Kawasaki cooling systems are (were) pretty prehistoric...        

Every generation of the EX-250 had the same cooling system plumbing. Very rudimentary, basic.

That's why I modified mine with the ThermoBob. It adds in a small bypass line that allows for constant movement of the coolant through the engine, even when the thermostat is completely closed. With the ThermoBob the bike's engine warms up quickly and evenly. And it maintains normal temps solidly without swinging up and down when the thermostat moves.

The research and documentation that Bill did here on his website explains it all better than I could in a forum post, if you're interested.

Here's hoping that Kawasaki improved the cooling system design on the EX-300.
