Can I keep up w/ older 600s on a 250...u tell me

I have a friend I'll be riding with in a few weeks, once my red 2000 250 ninja arives on may 18th. And he owns an old honda w/ 600cc's. He claims it was one of the first crotch rockets ever, anywho, he cant rev it as high as before, sense its very old. That being said, I wanna know I'f I'll be able to keep up with him, accelerating to near redline on the 250 till about 50 or 60mph. I once heard that the 250's could just about keep up with 600's untill 60mph, if they hit close to redline each gear. And keep in mind he can;t push it far past 6000 rpms. Is that rumor BS? I plan to push my ninja to at least 1200 rpms on average, each gear, will this do any justice against his 600 fosil of a honda?(sorry fellas, i forgot the name)

Well, even if it is BS, I still can't wait to get my ninja!!! I'm 20, soon to be a newbie rider, and soon plan to do laps @ road america. My pops races the new Mini cooper S BTW. I figure my niche could be motorcycle racing...eventually

-MOTO GP 2 WILL ROCK THIS WORLD (xbox) (for any time you cant ride outside, exploit the power of X) (rain sucks)

And may I add what a geat site this is.
