Norfolk Harborfest 2006

All,
I just got some info about the event for the sailing club. First of all there's a website for the summer long Fest-events schedule...http://www.festeventsva.org/ , and I can tell with certainty that the boat will be at pierside from about Friday, dusk until Sunday at dusk. All the very large visiting tall ships get berthed first and depart first, and we get rafted alongside then cast off afterwards...some thirty boats in the NNSA(Norfolk Naval Sailing Association) are participating.
I expect to stay aboard during this time...for safety and security reasons, and any of the club members are welcome to visit/remain overnight in that timeframe. Marylin will also have available overnight accomodations at the house for some riders. (We live approx. 8 miles from downtown Norfolk.)

Here are some other bits of info recently made available to me thru the sailing club:

*Showers and heads (restrooms) are available at the gym over on Granby Street - downtown. (Maybe three blocks away.)
*Portable restrooms are located everywhere else around the waterside park.
*Parking is limited, but very close by. There are fees involved for the public parking facilities adjacent to the waterfront hotels.
*No animals are allowed at the waterside park area during the event.

Events
Dock party - Friday night, 7:00 - 10:00 PM $12.00 fee, wristbands required
Harborfest gala - Saturday, Noon - 11:00 PM - pay as you go...live music, food, vendors...
Fireworks - Saturday, 9:00 PM
Gala continues - Sunday, Noon - 6:00 PM - pay as you go...live music, food, etc.
Cont. bk'fst - Sunday, 11:00 - 1:00 PM - $12.00 fee, wristbands required. (Dockside)

I have to pay also but for docking fees, and in my Cap'n. pack I'll get several of these food and affair tickets, but I expect they wil go very quickly to Family and crew...first come, first served. Oh, and of course, T'shirts will be sold all over the place for about $17.00 per...

Look fwd. to seeing some of the N250RC riders here...

Chuck...Aarrgghh Cool
