Story Time

So I've dropped my beloved ninja a number of times. One time was when I thought I put the stand down, and it wasn't... so I walked away and heard it crash lol. Being a new rider, I had prepared myself for the time that happened. I'm perfectly okay dropping my bike, as I think it's just a part of owning something on two wheels. Here are a couple funny stories of my drops/spills over the last 3 years of riding.

During my first couple days of ownership, I had taken my bike to an old workplace (a coffee shop). The parking lot was on an incline, and when I pulled in, I was still in second gear. Having ridden dirt bikes before, I wasn't new to changing gears at a standing stop... but the bike was leaning left, and I was trying to roll and shift while it started falling. Ended up in a split over the bike. And I'm only 5'5" tall. Took me a minute to right the bike and park it, and laughing the whole time didn't help matters. I had some great looks from the other customers, I can assure you.

One day, on my way to work, I was in a slight rush, so I decided to take a corner fin my neighbourhood a little faster than usual. Now, I'd been used to scrapping my pegs in right hand turns on the road, but I hadn't done it on left hand turns. As I was in the middle of turning left, I felt the centre stand catch the road, lift the rear wheel, spin me a good 20 degrees or so, and then skid out from under me. Once again, I just couldn't stop laughing. Ruined a pair of gloves, scraped up a faux leather jacket, made an outline of my smartphone in my jeans, but my helmet never hit the ground! Skateboarding has paid off lol. That was probably my most spectacular fail.

My latest spill was in the parking lot at work. I was trying to beat the automated gate, since my RFID card hasn't been activated for access yet. Well, as I was turning, I was trail braking, and I forgot that there was a good amount of fine dirt and gravel by the exit. Sure enough, the front washes out, and I end up nearly walking after my bike as it slides out from under me. It was always like a victory pose, oddly enough. Unfortunately, nobody saw it. Fortunately, I was able to get out shortly after.
